Question First GL350 Service

Hello all. I've had the vehicle a year and driven almost 9,000 miles.

Just did the first service. When I got home and compared the documentation to the service manual I noticed did not complete a number of the recommended items:
  1. Dust Filter Replacement
  2. Wiper Blade Replacement
  3. Combination Filter Replacement
  4. Tire Rotation

Did I get shorted?

They said they completed Flex "A" Service. The total bill was $250.

Also of note they forgot to tell me they would top off the AdBlue. They wanted to charge upward of $150 to fill it with 4.5 Gallons. Because they neglected to inform me of that piece I pushed back and they comped it. So beware AdBlue fill is one of the worlds greatest rip offs.

Thank you all for your input. By the way, I am really happy with the vehicle. 4 features I use most and really like, Adaptive Cruise, Massage Seat, Sport/Comfort Suspension adjustment, Ventilated seat.

My memory tells me 1-3 are part of the service B - which will be your next service.

I thought tire rotation was done every service interval though, but I also tend to remember it being separate pricing (i.e. not included in A or B service price since you may have your own tires and rotation schedule).

Tire rotation is mandatory every 5000 miles to meet the warranty. My dealership states that tire rotations will be covered at no cost for the first year of service.

I am going for my first service on the GL350 late to end of March and will let you know if they follow the service booklet.

Well this is kindof odd - "Tire rotation is mandatory every 5000 miles to meet the warranty".

Exactly what part of Mercedes warranty requires tire rotation ?

Mercedes maintenance service does not include tire rotation recommendation - however depending if the particular dealer checks tire wear, dealer "can" recommend tire rotation at extra cost.

All Mercedes dealers will check tire wear at any time by request for free - and "most" MB dealers (not all) will provide free rotation if uneven tire wear ebtween all four wheels is shown early mileage 2500-5000 miles.

Keep the beat !

The enclosed warranty booklet with my car, from Pirelli (Scorpion), mandates this frequent tire rotation. It indicates actually more frequent rotations, but my dealership indicated that every 5000 miles was adequate.
The 20 inch models perform beautifully and are very quiet.

Interesting, I didn't think you could get high speed tires with a mileage warranty. I have Pirelli's and will have to look up the booklet. I have about 22,000 miles on it and they won't make it to 30,000.

It is unfortunate that tire manufacturer's do not honor mileage warranties for their tires sold on new cars - the brochure is meaningless - and also the tire manufacturer's do not offer Road Hazard coverage on new car tires as well.

You can get tire manufacturer "tread life warranty" (which in several cases personally has been almost worthless - since it is pro-rated) and you can get tire manufacturer Road Hazard coverage if offered - on your 2nd set.

Why does a fill of AdBlue at a dealer cost $150, or do I already know the answer?

$250 for an A service sounds absolutely fine, but $150 for what is $20? of fluid - why do organisations behave like that?

service a

Doesn't matter what they did or did not as noted in your invoice. As long as they performed the reset, that's all that matters. If for any reason something goes wrong, due to them not performing a service, they are liable. If the oil has not been changed and the engine seizes, they have to pay for it. Service A varies by dealer and no two dealers provide the same Service A for the same price. AdBlu is the same AdBlu at WalMart or any other Autoparts store or truckstop. The only difference is the price. Also, I'd recommend Diesel Kleen from Power Service.
