Sirius has three types radio Sirius, Siriusxm & XM.

They tell me my my14gl550 is a sirius radio so I have to choose from sirius packages. Sirius all access and sirius select. There are siriusxm versions of these that seem to have more options.

Isn't it a siriusxm radio?

No such thing anymore as Sirus or XM, XM was taken over by Sirus in 2008 as they were going under, it is now called SirusXM ( at least for 3-4 years).

There's one company, but 3 plan types depending on your radio sirius, XM, siriusxm. The siriusxm select (basic) plan has more channels than sirius select.

All correct but there is still two different platform as the original radios before the merge still have to work. Mb has offered Sirius before the merge. The radio hardware platform is likely to be Sirius on MB's.

Yes. I found a chart and all newer cars seem to have the sirius platform. I'm guessing the Siriusxm packages only apply to non-car radios on that platform.

It just means I have to upgrade to "all access" to get more channels.

Only reason I have Sirius in the GL is my wife listens to news channels. I have long moved on to streaming options like slacker, spotify and pandora. I only buy the traffic service for my other cars. With the Bluetooth audio, it's more convenient, cheaper and much better sound quality.

To be helpful - the "best" rates from SIRIUS are unadvertised "customer retention rates" available from SIRIUS customer service - at the end of the new/CPO trial period your radio will notify near the end of that trial - use this tel# to contact SIRIUS Customer Service Retention Specialists (888) 539-7474 - "some" customers have called to "cancel" their paid subscription on their MB and got a great deal to keep and extend. Again these "customer rentention specials" ... keep the beat !

I think the cheapest rates you can get for all the channels is $4.50 taxes in. Has anyone received a better rate. unfortunately I have to go through this every 3 months.

Every time I threaten to cancel, they give me the same deal: 6 months for $25. I have tried to get it for a longer term but they tell me that is the longest they can go.
