MY2015 GL550 availability & changes?
Hi Newbie here and looking for some help...
Anyone has any MY2015 availability info??
Hopefully it gets 2015 550S class 449hp V8 vs current 429hp and better fuel efficiency along with it (S550 has 17/25 vs current GL550 13/18), though I understand the weight is higher. Also hoping there's Bumester option along with HUD in MY2015....Thanks.

Hey - nice 991 - GT silver right - hehe. Your username is not easy to forget.
We have a 2013 450 that is my wife's car - she really loves it to haul the kids, dog, rabbit etc. best riding SUV I've ever experienced and she loves the nice touches. Who thought that two tone with deviated stitching on the dash could be free
The 450 vs 550 debate used to be based on how loaded / what features you wanted - with the 550 winning the more loaded scenario. For me the 450 won out as it has the same engine so it is easily tuned to 550 levels. All that is out the window now in MY15 with the 450 getting a V6 - eeek.
There's some great threads here on various points / issues. One to check out is the EZ entry of the 2nd row seats into the 3rd row and headrest impact for kid seats in the second row (if your kids are of that age).
Anyway - happy reading - there are quite a few with experience of the 13 and 14 models here. And Fab is a huge resource for those questions others can't answer!
Not sure if you're south or north bay - but I can give you my view on the dealers I talked to in the South Bay if you're interested.
If you're ever down in the south bay would love to see the GT silver in person with that interior - looks gorgeous online. Already thinking about my next one!

Thanks guys for the info, very helpful! Too bad there's so much to loose with the B&O - no spare tire & with RFTs...not very attractive. I wonder how much sound quality difference is between HK and B&O...I guess only one way to find out. Also no HUD??

You have the dealer guide from the forum for all the option details - frankly "availability" of the new MY2015's will be as tight as they were this past year - EVERY MB dealer will have a their specific number of GL550 production slots ..
That said - July production slots will be made/held by MB for "official" release - no owner I knwo has ever been-less-than-ecstatic getting the "1st" of a new model year - the best time to pull the trigger...

Frankly I'm not in a real hurry, or should I say, my wife isn't. Especially since there're no exterior changes vs '13/14. I really hope they get GL550's V8 updated to match S550's and add Apple Car Play compatibility in COMAND system. This information isn't in the dealer guide.
What do you think about lunar blue / Auburn combo though? Haven't really seen too many blue around let alone with this combo.
I'll visit dealer tomorrow to find out more.

When I was first searching for mine I had lunar blue on the list. There really seems to be few and far between. There was a thread on colors if you do search. I'm pretty sure I saw one in a different model and decided I was not a huge fan. There's some early threads on how the different colors impact (enhance/smooth) out the cars lines. I must admit I really liked the steel grey, but ended up with black. The auburn is a delicious I interior.
Have fun looking / driving. Doesn't look like much is changing for MY15 - maybe MY16.
I would have cross shopped with the Range Rove if it were out at the time - but wife really loved the GL.

Range rover is indeed on our list but 3 row seats are a must (in case ext family visits, hauling other kids for sports etc) - I don't particularly like range rover sport but it has a 3rd row seats - will give it a try too.
End of the day it'd be my wife's choice - so far she wants blue and definitely NOT any form of white! If it comes down to me , I'd go for yet another, silver

Lunar Blue is a sophisticated color - and it will keep your wife's "interest" since depending on the light and angle - visual sift from blue into blackish/blue.
Auburn interior match is fine - consider the Designo $4100 option and you will be in heaven.

i think that would be a really sharp combo. lunar blue is also very rare in my area; in fact i don't think i have seen one in the wild yet. a ton of X166's are cropping up, and most are white, black or steel grey. i have two "twin" grey 550's within a 5 mile radius
