Humming Sound

We've had our 2014 GL450 for over a month now and are extremely happy with it. I have noticed a humming sound coming from the engine bay which lasts for about 5 minutes after turning the car off. I noticed it a while back and I don't think this is something which has developed recently. Has anyone else experienced this? thanks

I noticed similar on my previous GL's as well as my current one......as others will probably tell you, it can be various aspects of the systems involved in either HVAC, engine cooling, or the air suspension. Quite normal......

I have had some humming noise come from what I felt was the back of the car after I turned the engine off. I have a diesel. I always thought it was normal. Am I mistaken?

Yes, my 2014 GL550 hums like this for a few minutes after turning it off. No idea what it is...

My guess is it's the oil pump circulating oil to cool the turbos down.

+1, your Mercedes circulates oil after you shut off the engine to keep it from burning in place.

Sounds normal, the best sound is the pssst, after you turn the car off and are waxing or something and the suspension hisses and pssst'd at you. Though I was crazy when I first heard it.

Anyone ever hear a sound coming from rear wheel area if you turn the car off and hop quickly out, sounds like an electric screwdriver or drill turning for about 1 second. I get this randomly on my GL450 maybe like once a month. Pretty loud.

I have heard that, something to do with the suspension. I've thought it was lowering to let me out and I am too quick for it.

It might be a EVAP fan. The Toyota Tacoma does it when it pushes fuel fumes from the fuel tank to charcoal filter.
