Best place to buy roof cross bars

Just got my first MB - I've been a BMW buyer for years. Bought my wife a CPO'd 2013 GL450 relatively loaded.

One thing I need to get ASAP is roof cross bars - it has rails already. Dealer has them at $300.

Since I'm new to the MB world, what's the place (places) to look for OEM equipment at less than dealer costs? Any?

Also need a hitch mounted bike rack. but eyeing the Yakima Swingdaddy and pretty set on that.

try Whispbar... I have them on my Audi and love them, much better than OEM. I'm not sure how it compares to MB OEM

Are the whisbar compatible with Thule accessories? Are the MB OEM?

I believe the MB's are made by Thule.

I might pick these up: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chrome-Roof-Cross-Bars-Mount-Rack-Basket-06-13-Mercedes-Benz-GL350-450-550-X116-/201294848498?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2ede1ba1f2
They look identical to the chrome ones I have on my 2012 GL and it looks like they are compatible with the 2013+ GLs

I have whispbars and love them... but.. you can't open the sunroof if you have a pano roof as it lifts up and the bars are so low that the front one will impede the action.

all of my thule accessories work fine with them and they don't add noise like the big OEM bars will.

Can't you just set them back and out of place?

I found that with Yakima Whispbars, in order for the pano roof to open and close without contacting the front bar, it has to be set either too forward (where it starts making noise at highway speeds) or too far back (where it will be too close to the rear bar).

I returned the Whispbars and bought the OEM bars from one of MB dealers on ebay for $259. You can definitely hear them after 60-65MPH, but the noise isn't too bad. Plus they are easy to take off when not needed - no tools, all by hand.

Yes... And that is exactly what I do when I'm not using them. I've had the OEM style and they make to much noise for me.

I have bought Thule Aeroblade for my 2014 GL350 and am extremely happy with them. They are low profile so not much wind noise, at least I don't hear any. I also have the pano roof so am able to open without any issues.

I was considering this and the Whispbar and ended up going with the latter because I've seen some posts stating the aeroblades were noisy. I'm glad yours is working out and the roof opens without issue.

I purchased from autoanything with 20% off during an end of month sale. Would recommend them and happy to use them again. My stuff came in 2 days!

Ford Lightning, GL350 and a couple of outbacks
REI carries both brands, if you are a member you get 10% back at the end of the year so it's also worth looking there for comparison.
