Multi-Contour Seats

Massage is just two ***** that go up and resets at the bottom and up again. Aggressive means, it just moves every 1.5 seconds or so, so not really aggressive at all.
I'm not tall, so the extension of the bottom seat on my thighs mean nothing. and lumbar is pretty standard.
Honestly, if it weren't packaged with my GL 550, I wouldn't have bothered.

Do the standard seats have lumbar support?
This video shows the S. Does the GL have as many pressure points?

I had it in my E class. I did not like it. But granted my dislike might have been more to do with the sitting position of a sedan -like on a couch with feet on an ottoman - vs the GL - sitting in a chair with feet on the floor. I find that I'm more comfortable in the regular seats.
The lumbar support never felt right. It was like a bar shoved into my back. It did not cover enough area, so the gradient was too abrupt. Too high, too low.
The dynamic bolsters were silly. In turns, they would activate *after* the weight shift (how could they anticipate the shift?), so they more pushed you back into position rather than held you in position.
I think the experience will be personal. I will not pay for multi contour seats again, but you might very well like them.

I've had both and I think the multicontour seats are worth it. You are able to fine tune the lumbar support and it has a greater range than the standard seats. The seat massage is beneficial on long trips when your back starts getting tired from being in the same position. If you take the time to adjust all the settings, the seats really do contour to your body more than the standard seats. The advantage of the side bolster adjustment (on a GL at least) is that it allows you to distribute more of your body weight across all of the seating surface making the seats more comfortable. I have a suspicion that many people don't take the time to fully adjust the seats. If I didn't adjust the seats for my wife, she would never do it herself.
Also, the headrest (on the leather seats at least) has side bolsters that you can pull forward that allow it to wrap slightly around the back of your head. When you do this, it becomes softer like a pillow which is particularly nice for the passenger. With the leather seats, this wrinkles the leather and makes the seats look significantly plusher imo.

So worth it...
I won't buy another Mercedes without them. The massage is a great feature, and being able to extend the thigh support as well as adjusting bolsters and lumbar make these a requirement for me.

2 back surgeries...
100 miles in a 450 loner... back hurts
100 miles in a 550/63 with contoured seats.. no problem

MBWorld Fanatic!
Have them in my E and they are the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in.
I'm tall and 200lbs plus with intermittent back problems.
When I drive my E they go away.
Would not buy another E or GL without them.

Hi all
Just picked up a 13 year GL63 and here in the UK the GL63 comes with factory multi contour front seats, but mine dont have any adjustment for the seat base side bolster width, they have the other adjustments but not this one, and this was the main one I wanted as I found the ML63 166 seats I had before were tight in the seat base width.
Theres no option for dynamic seat to be active, is there more than one type of multi contour seat, does anyone else find that they cant adjust the seat base cushion width? The manual has it shown but says "The availability of this function depends on the type of seat and the vehicle model series" however I assumed that being the top model in the range and having multi contour that this would be available and the note is for none multi contour seats?
Appreciate the help on this?
