Alright fellas. . .
I went back to an old friend (unfortunately, about 300 miles away), but here's the new deal on a more loaded car. . .
MSRP $128k
Sale price $115k
Brand new! <10 miles on it. Sad, that I have to even ask that now. :roll eyes:
Think I'll pull the trigger now. What an experience.
Any last minute nay-sayers??

Think about it. If the dealership is this shady before the so-called deal is inked, how do you think they're going to treat you afterwards if any problems / issues pop-up? These guys sound like they'll nickel and dime you at every opportunity they get, whether it's legitimate or not.
Do you really need to get a replacement for your existing vehicle so bad, rather than ordering a new MY16 the way you want, that you're willing to deal with these slimeballs?

Work the deal now... Why wait and usually these come with popular options ... Color is the only thing that may be worth waiting for and custom ordering

no harm in posting the dealers location

Doc, buy the one you want from the stealer and use their financing....that'll get the deal done. Once you get the payment coupons, just go to your credit union and refinance it with them at a lesser rate. The stealer gets a finance charge back and you get a great rate with the GL you want. Play their game, then win it at the end with a refinance.

We live in a crooked world fellas!!
I have been trying to get an idea of how much the Wheel and Tire Protection Plus package will cost and I've called 5 dealerships and two gave me a quote $1000 apart!! 3 of them said they'll call me back. . . each one was a complete dick on the phone and acted like I was asking for the nuclear launch codes. I hate that MBUSA won't publish the damn MSRP on these plans!!
The place I'm buying my car from quoted me $2030 for 5yrs for the "Appearance Package" that includes dent and ding, which I don't want.
Anyway, anyone know how much they paid for this?
Thanks!!

I negotiated down to just wheel and tire replacement for, IIRC, $700 for a 3 year term. Id have to check paper work for exact terms, but i know it wasn't +$1k.

It has been about 5 months, so I'll have to review exactly what transpired, but I agree, what they present to you at the table is a waste for most.

And, the wheels on a GL63 are MUCH more expensive than the 20 or 19 inch wheels for replacement. I think they retail for $1700 ea or something crazy like that. They look good though!

Yeah getting a straight-forward answer from some of the finance guys at the dealerships, on any of this stuff, can definitely be a challenge. All the parsing and hedging is of course designed to maximize the potential profit for the dealership. Which is also why you can call multiple dealerships and get a different price quote from each one for the exact same tire / wheel protection package.
The best thing you can do is what Mike450 did regarding his tire protection package. Pick the pieces of the protection package of interest to you and then negotiate hard to pay a reasonable price. Annoying yes, but sadly that's the best option.

that being said, not ALL dealerships are shady. yes, there are many, but not all. knowing the vehicle history makes all the difference when looking at a GL63 with 1k miles. getting 10% off MSRP on a $120k truck with only 1k miles isn't bad, especially if it hasn't been titled/registered. however, if it's been shuffled between here, there and everywhere in between with people driving it multiple places, that's when I would be concerned.
glad to hear you got a solid deal and seem to be pleased with it.
