A gaggle of MB's
Alternatively - if your ownership plan is "high mileage" - a good bet there is to look at a recent model - Mercedes Certified - since CPO warranty is "unlimited mileage" - you can take a recent model CPO and run-up-the-miles - smart money !

I would say give a shot to Fletcher Jones in Chicago (Mercedes Benz of Chicago) I bought it for $3K 7Year/100K....
And also last resort try MB OF Austin they are known and very famous for offering low low warranty price thats how I negotiated with MB OF Chicago.

There was a finance Manager called Moe who helped me out but I guess he is no longer there but no harm in checking out...

Motorwerks of Barrington anyways pissed me off when I was negotiating the car and said I would be paying 50% Cash on GL550 and they assumed me as a Exporter and asked me to sign bunch of crap documents and hardly wanted to give me 3% off of MSRP....

So avoid all these and try Fletcher Jones.

Thanks

6 year 75K $2760.00 2400.00

7 year 75K $3105.00 2700.00
7 year 100K $4312.50 3750.00

Here ( in bold ) are the same prices here in Coconut Creek , FL Autonation. Remember all prices are + State tax 6% here in FL. remember, you can buy the policy at any MB dealer in any state and it's good at all dealers.

Isn't illegal to charge tax for services? It is illegal in Illinois, trust me I know

In FL it's not a service, it's a policy and they charge tax. I know because I went through all that when I bought my policy two weeks ago on my S Class.
You also can't get the policy if you obtained the car (2nd owner ) from a MB dealer. You can only extend if you bought privately or from a non MB dealer. Another crazy rule. In CA is it's over 30 days from purchase, tack on another $650 to the numbers.

Why don't you want to go third party? I extended through a 3rd party on my '07 S65--4 years past the original expiration date 50k miles for $3200. I've made three claims (6 months left) for ~$20k and haven't had any issues.

I called about another one and they have 2-5 year options for $3000-$4800. No brainer for me.

So Im confused. I just called and spoke with Travis at Fletcher Jones and he said I cannot extend my warranty since it is not a certified vehicle and i did not buy at a MB dealership. He said i can pay to get it certified for $1k and then purchase the extended warranty for $ 3.5K. WTF!! Is this correct? Sounds way off.

Depends on the year and when the reg warranty is expiring.

I currently have an '13 with 45k on it and it is still under factory warranty. I just spoke with 2 additional dealers and they told me the same thing with the exception of getting it certified. Is it possible to have my vehicle certified or is this reserved only for dealers selling cars? so frustrated right now.

Local dealer will sell me a aftermarket but car cannot have more than 47,000 and its about 5k (which i really cant do at the time)....

I had a 2010 and when it came close they told me the same thing. I passed on it and never had a problem with the car and traded it in last month on the S550.
Their rules all depend on the year and miles as it gets close to expiring.

2013 GL450
Hi Guys.

I just bought a 2013 GL450 CPO with 40k miles. The factory warranty runs out 12/2016 The finance guy convinced me to buy the 24 month unlimited mileage warranty for about $4950 to extend the CPO 12 month unlimited mileage warranty.

a) Is the consensus that this model benefits from an extended warranty?
b) This price is more than $1k under what he started trying to sell me at, but it still feels high. Was I over charged?

Probably a good deal as they probably can't offer the normal extended limited 60/75k or 100k or the 72/75-100k because it already has the CPO on her and you purchased used from a MB dealer. Lot's of odd rules.
If you had bought the car from a non MB dealer, you could have then done to any MB dealer to extend out 2-3 years for 2700-$3750.

Just from this short thread it's clear that you got taken.
Buying a CPO car from an MB dealer (as I am doing) means you may EXTEND CPO for up to an extra 2 years beyond year 1, giving you up to 7 years coverage in total - and now, that is with unlimited mileage coverage on the initial factory 4 years followed by 3 years CPO unlimited mileage for sales before Feb 29.
CPO extension for 2 years has MB list price of like $3495. You just paid $5000 for a third party policy, or for CPO? Going discount rates from the dealerships listed in this and many other threads here show target closer to $2500 for a phone sale on CPO -- if you buy within 30 days of car purchase, after that costs dealers 5% more and list goes up 15%.
So, read this thread and forum again, call one of the discounters and cancel your plan. You want CPO with unlimited miles, not some third party plan for the same 3 years total.

And MB rules change by state. The surcharge does not apply in many states with the 30 day rule. Some states charge tax, others don't. Some states refundable, others not.
I did not even know you could extend CPO. All kinds of twists.

2013 GL450
Hi mustbebenz,

To be clear, what I bought was a MB 24 month extension to the CPO Warranty. So, in total I have the "remainder of factory warranty" + "1 Year CPO Warranty" + "2 Year MB CPO unlimited mileage CPO extension".

The "2 Year CPO Unlimited mileage CPO extension" is what cost $4950.

When I looked through the forums, most of the posts that I found were for people extending the factory non-CPO warranty. Also, I couldnt find the list price for the MB CPO 24 month extension online anywhere for the GL450.

Anyone have ideas on which "discounter" I should call to get the $2500 2year CPO extension?

Thanks!

You can buy the warranty from any MB dealership in the USA and use it at any MB dealership in the USA

Ah, true, but the price may vary greatly. Jack Johnson at Tofel strikes me as the one to try when ready to buy.

Thank you. I suppose the price is the same for 2013-2014 ML350?

Which warranty company are you referring to? Hassle free claim process is what to look for in an extended warranty from a third party.
