Advice needed....Increasingly frustrated
Could use some advice/input. I bought my 2014 GL450 with 30K miles at the end of May. During the CPO inspection, they identified a faulty strut in the rear tailgate. After some troubleshooting and 3 trips to the dealer, the tailgate is fixed. During that time, the control module for the backup camera and driver side window controls has to be replaced/repaired.
I thought all was well until 2 weeks ago. Driving to the beach, the CEL came on. Upon returning home, I took it to the dealer. The code was for a leak in the intercooler hose. Hose was replaced. I picked up the car and and a day and a half later the CEL came on again. Took it in last Friday, same error code related to the intercooler. They inspected the relevant parts and couldn't find an issue. After talking with MB engineering, they decided a software reset/update was needed. They spent the weekend doing that. I picked it up this morning and within 10 mins CEL was back on along with an unusual smell. I am awaiting the diagnosis.
I bought this car for my fiance, who has 3 teenage boys who play multiple sports so she is on the road alot. I have little to no faith in this particular GL450. I have already contacted MB USA regarding a possible buyback. They said I need to see what the latest diagnosis is.
I'd appreciate any thoughts about the buyback process as well as any general comments. Really love the car, particularly the safety features, but this particular car appears to be a lemon.
Gas cars shouldn't have as much of a prob. We attributed the issue to the overly generous e.g.r. System Compliments of our friends in the e.p.a. That particular system blew quite a bit of raw exhausted right back through the intake and through the turbo.

Maybe in the waste gate?

Thanks for the input. You hit the nail on the head. I spoke with the shop foreman yesterday. They finally identified the problem: the control arm that activates the waste gate is not working properly. They are in the process of ordering the parts so hopefully that does it. They also identified a bend on the inside of the front left rim which he said was responsible for the shudder at high speed.

Let's hope it does this. It would be nice for my fiance to driver her car, although she is enjoying the loaner car lol
