Windshield wipers

I just got 2014 GL450,CPO. So far I love the truck. One question though. When I have the wipers set at Rain sensing mode, every time I start the truck the wipers do 1 swipe. It does this even though it's dry out and no rain. Is this normal?

Had the same issue in my 07 GL450 and my car did spend 3-4 days in the service center and the fix was same old BS your garage or wherever you park must be creating some moisture buildup around the sensor (Top of Windshield) thats why its behaving like this, and I was like whatever and then just left it alone but after a year or 2 the issue just disappeared automatically.

But no harm in taking it to the dealership and having them reflash the software or look at the sensors.

If they give same old crap ask them have it in writing so that if the issue re-occurs after warranty you can fight for it.

Thanks.

Even I haven't seen that happen and mine almost never work as intended in sensor mode.

I've a CPO 2014 GL450. It is happening to me as well. In the first month of ownership, I didn't see this happening. Lately, it has been raining a lot and the last few times, whenever I start the car, it will do a single swipe.

It could be due to the droplets still left on the windshield but more than likely I think it is simply just needing one more swipe to put it back in place in the resting position.

I suppose I could wipe the windshield completely dry and then turn on the car to see if it is happening again or not. If not, then perhaps it is the droplets.

It was raining last night when I parked my car at the destination. When I got out, it had stopped raining but the windshield was still wet. Turned on the car, and it did a single swipe.

As I was driving home, it was still a bit damp outside. Windshield would occasionally swipe. Pulled into the garage. Let the car run for a bit to make sure the wiper is no longer sensing it needs to swipe. Turned off car. Turn it back on this morning, and no swipe.

I'm guessing in those instance where I experienced a single swipe from when I was starting from the garage, there's some moisture leftover OR perhaps the wiper was going to do one swipe just before I turned off the car.
