Oops! Passenger mirror
Backing out of a narrow garage (not mine) I brushed the passenger mirror. No damage to the mirror or the mirror cover, but the housing seperated from the cover. Tried to push clip it back down but it wont stay. I would like to remove the cover to see whats going on, before I head for a $600 dealer service. Anybody have any experience taking this apart? I read some dyi that said just use force, but there's a fine line between using force and $600.

Tilt the Mirror glass all the way down and in. Grab it firmly and pull it out. There is one Torx head screw that holds the mirror cover on. It's toward the outside in the middle. Remove it. The mirror cover pulls up for removal. It may take some force. There are a few clips that align it so maybe it just needs realignment. It's not hard to do but don't drop the mirror glass as it's not cheap.

many thanks. That did it. Was able to remove and realign/epoxy a clip that broke. Mirror is a snug fit and just took a few applications of careful force to release.
