Help with CPO '16 GL550 Price

Hi everyone. New to the forum and MB. I am currently in the mkt for a CPO 15/16 GL550 and have found one within a 3 hour drive of me. The original MSRP was $97,190. Current list is approximately $80k and the truck has 10.6k miles. I was able to get the dealer to come off approx. 2.5% right off the bat. Carfax shows this as a one owner, personal vehicle so I assume the dealer took it in as a trade-in and didn't buy it at auction (so they aren't necessarily stuck with razor thin margins).

All of the diligence on KBB and Edmunds points to a trade-in value of $67-70k. Am I off my rocker to offer $74-75k on this truck (either too high or too low)? It's only been on the lot a week. Worst the dealer can say is no, obviously. Just looking for some recent CPO buying experiences. Thanks!

Not at all. I guess depending on where you are. Found a few with similar miles for $75k.

Thanks, jlim. I'm in TX and I too found those vehicles. Appreciate the sanity check as another dealer I was talking to in the North East told me they had no price movement on a 550 and that all MB dealers in the US would be in the same boat. Obviously that dealer and I parted ways...

A gaggle of MB's
If want you want is straight-up features/price - then go off-book/non-MB dealer - your a big hat TX guy - try Texas Cars Direct.

For a MB dealer - CPO's are priced to the national market for MB CPO's - either for the area - and/or region - and/or national MB dealer market - if the dealer has bought/traded "better" - dealer management feels they deserve that little extra they will get at market retail..
