2014 GL550 - Recommended By Dealer?
I've got a 2014 GL550 that we drive the t*ts off of.
It just passed 80k miles and got the usual Service B. Along with that I got a printout stating a few extra things that ran over $2500.
I can't find these in the 2014 Service Manual, but maybe I'm blind?
• Transfer Case Service
(The word "Transfer" does not appear in the document)
• Coolant System Repair (Flush, replace all radiator hoses, and refill)
The only use of "Coolant" related to the GL is "Check coolant level"
• Differential (Front & Rear) refill
(This apparently never needs to be done on a GL class? The maintenance manual never has a mark for it in the GL column...)
They also listed the Transmission flush which was apparently due at 70k but never done for some reason.
• Transmission Flush/Service/Filter
Now to the question. Should I go ahead and do these that aren't in the Maintenance Manual? Or is my dealer being shady?
Thx

Perform the service that is required by MB and is listed in the manual. Other services are dealer recommended and from my past experience performing the extra dealer recommended services have made nay difference in feel or the drivability of my car

Anybody who can get a straight answer from a MB dealer to the question..............."Please tell me the difference between 'required' and 'recommended' services"..........you've witnessed a miracle.

At around 100k miles my 163 differential started clicking when driving in reverse.
The forums suggested that it was common and a differential fluid change would be the cure and it was. Albeit I changed both the transfer case and differential fluids myself, it was never "recommended" by the dealer. My 163 ML430 ran for 172k miles until a deer and insurance rendered it totaled. So take that for what it's worth.
