Seat Problems GL63 - Anyone Have Similar & Fixed Them?

Hi All

The front seats in my 2013 GL63 with the factory AMG spec seats are making a lot of noises, as follows:-

Passenger seat (left side of vehicle in UK) shakes when driving and because of the shake theres a rattle noise coming from around the top / headrest area. If i put my hand on the seat and apply light pressure the shaking stops so the rattle stops. MB dealer said they knew what it was, ordered a part then when it didnt fix it they said it wasnt that fault after all, its because the seat its loose on the rail and thats not covered under the approved used warranty, but if I was to pay half MB would pay the other half as a gesture of goodwill. The seat frame was approx £1,000 GBP and the dealer thought similar for the install so I decided the 50% contribution from me for a rattle was a joke and opted out, but now Im left with a rattle that annoys the heck out of me.

Anyone have a shaking seat that they tightened onto the rail better or anyone know what this rattle could be please?

Driver seat, the seat cushion clicks and clunks as my body weight transfers when going around bends or over holes in the road etc. The cushion feels a bit squashed these days and theres a groove starting to appear down the centre of the leather as if the padding is breaking up and occasionally it feels like the cushion moved, I think I can feel the mechanical components underneath my legs / backside.

MD dealer says its also not covered "seats in general arent covered apparently" so they wont even try and diagnose whats wrong and local upholstery guys dont like the idea of pulling the seat apart of an AMG vehicle.

Anyone have a problem with the seat making these kind of noises? I had an ML63 166 and the seat made the exact same noises at roughly the same miles which leads me to think its a design flaw at that age / usage.

Would really appreciate some help with these things please guys?

Thanks

Carl

I have the exact same problems.

However, I noticed the headrest vibration on an empty passenger seat in my W164 too. If I lean the seat-back a little it doesn't vibrate.

I have no clue as how to prove to the dealer that my driver seat shifts when I make certain turns at higher speeds.

I also have a problem with the third row seats, they were clunking when they lift back upright so i asked the dealer to take a look, they agreed that the motors seemed to be lifting them up with a sort of bumping motion and the clunk was part of each bump.

That night I tried it again and they wont go up or down properly, dealer probably overheated the motors. I waited until next morning and got them to return to the upright but now I don't want to use them.

Complained and got 90% contribution towards one side only so would have to pay for the other (one side sticks the other just really noisy).

Regarding the front seats, MB don't want to know regarding the passenger one that's loose on the rail and didn't comment at all about the drivers one that's making all the noise and cushion moving around so have gone back to them about that.

The AMG seats in the ML & GL 166 are total crap.

So I've had a look underneath and whilst looking in, used my hand to lift the seat up and down to replicate the bounce whilst driving and the noise seems to be coming from the area in the picture, the rod coming through a bracket arrangement taps steel to steel which I can hear, a lot.

Dealer said without spending any time on it at all that the seat was loose on the frame and they wanted like £2,000 GBP to replace, but I don't think that's it so definitely not paying only to find the problem still exists.

Can anyone help me with a suggested fix?

Thanks

Compare it with the other seat or to a seat on the same side with an other GL , which does not have the problem.
