Sleeping Platform in Rear?

Anyone build a flat sleeping platform for their X166 yet? I've got a 2014 GL450 and am contemplating building some form of platform to turn the rear cargo area and over the folded second row into a flat sleeping platform. Something that my 10yo son and I could sleep on, on quick getaways. I've googled and seen ideas for other vehicles along with things to look out for, how to prep your car for camping, pros/cons, and the whole tent vs motel vs sleeping in your car debates... Just curious anyone here has actually done something similar. Thanks!

Why not just use an air mattress?

Air mattress certainly is possible. Not having tried that yet, my concern was that the 2nd row doesn't fold "flat enough" for comfortable sleeping, hence why I was thinking a platform to level it out. But maybe I will try the mattress before I do anything further and see if my concern is waranted.

A bunch of 2x4's that custom fits the back? Not for my personal taste.

Second row seats fold flat on GL

Actually the seats do fold flat - lift the bottom cushion by the cloth tab that's in the center of the seat cushion so that it sits vertically in the footwell, then fold the seat back horizontally by lifting the side lever and voila! I've done this many times and it works great. Can do the 60 or 40 or both seats, just make sure the head rests are down and the front seats are forward enough to accommodate.
