water pump leak, replaced, leaking again

I have a 2014 GL450. About 3 months ago kept getting low coolant warnings. I noticed a small leak coming from around the flywheel that drives the water pump. Figured it was a bad seal or something so I replaced the entire pump (and the hose below for good measure)

seemed to fix the problem. Now 3 months later, same problem appeared again. around every fifty miles I get low coolant message and have to stick about 1 or 2 quarts or water in.

Today had time to check it out, left it running on my drive and was shocked to see the same leak as before. drip drip drip originating from the area of the flywheel that is part of the water pump

I have had about 30 mercedes over the years, never had a water pump go. I'm stunned to think I could have 2 go in 3 months on same car.

Could anything else be causing this leak? some kind of thermostat or anything else? Water that is leaking seems very hot but is showing as the usual 88-90 degrees in the cluster

any ideas appreciated

Nope and the water pumps were OEM and you followed the correct install instructions?
