RECO: dash cam

i read other thread below regarding integrated dashcam. while that's nice, i'm probably looking for simpler installation and cheaper solution. i think dash cams have become so cheap that no one would break in the car just for dash cams. yes? no? i'd still like the dash cam to be less visible to outside and wiring relatively easy and painless while it doesn't get on my way or sore my eyes. please post pics and recommendations. thx

I have a cheap a118c b40 camera (google it and you'll find it under many different brands) - have had it for 2+ years, no problems. Also installed it in wife's X3. It comes with a long power cord with cigarette lighter plug if you a looking for simplicity, or can be hardwired.

Here's my old post with pics and installation: https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...ml#post6591787 and another old post with more pictures: https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...ml#post6375016

But If I were doing it today, I'd go with the integrated camera - it's only a few bucks more if you get it from China and has wifi: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/BigB...820233000.html

i am considering the integrated cam in this link. has anyone done this? i'd like to know the installation steps. where is the fuse box on gl550? it looks like it's on right side of passenger seat.

There are two use boxes that have switched fuses in the GL - one in the engine compartment and one under the second row seat. There's also a fuse box on the passenger end of the dashboard, but all the fuses there are always on.

thanks, always-on fuse boxes are what i'm looking for. i'd like to set up dash cam so it does detect motion when parked & engine off and still record videos

after half day research, i ended up buying the one in the 2nd link. first time buying from aliexpress so hopefully it won't be too disappointing. now i have to wait like a month for it to get here.
they have it on sale at 19% online, but you get 20% on phone app which seems to be ending in 1-2 days from today

Looking forward to your reports. Curious to see how the camera performs at night - may get one is well if it's significantly better than what I have now.
