When does CPO period start?

Hi all,

Assuming a CPO hits 50k miles before four years is up, how does MB know when the CPO period officially starts/ends?

For example, if I have a 2015 with a 1/1/15 in service date, but it hits 50k miles on 6/1/18, how would MB know that CPO kicks in on 6/1/18? I get that if I brought it in for a 50k service, they would know. But let’s assume I do the 50k service myself.

I’m getting different answers from MB dealers. Some are saying CPO starts/ends based on in service date, while others say if 50k is reached before four years from the in service date, CPO kicks in then (but they aren’t clear on how they determine official start date in this type of situation).

Hopefully I’m being clear, but if not, let me know. Appreciate any insight.

Thanks.

I have CPO extension for two years, total time is seven from original in service date. This gave me NO mileage limit. I read and got told, so now understand, that to mean both on the initial 4, as that's how it seemed to apply, and then on the CPO period thereafter. Start of cPO becomes purely time based in this case.

I agree with mustbebenz. Strictly time-based. If you added your car to Mercedes Me, the expiration date of the CPO warranty is shown, and miles show 999,999.
