2020 GLE - MB trying to cut off the GLS?
So I ran into this interesting article: https://jalopnik.com/mercedes-benz-s...e-t-1828983014
MB has revealed their new interior design language for their 2020 GLE, I have mixed feelings on the interior, the dash screens are a welcome but the dash itself is awful. The dash and air-vents remind of a 1950's space age car. Another thing, what's up with those handles in the center? They should have add them to the new G wagon, it's more of an off-road truck. Another interesting part, the GLE is slated to have a third row seats. Is MB trying to remove the GLS from their line? Or, will this be an answer to MB owners who want the same options to what Chevy has with the Tahoe\Suburban?
What are your thoughts?

It does have fancy new off-road features, so the handles aren’t out of line. Not that anyone will use them.
I’m surprised the new GLE interior isn’t more 2018 E-Class-like, as it should be. It’s its own new design language. Strange for a designer so bent on “sensual purity”.

I'm equally surprised on the GLE interior, this is what the 2020 GLS will eventually look like. I hope I'm wrong...
What's everyone’s take on the new interior?

The new models look great and the x166, although timeless, will immediately look old as soon as the new big boy comes out. that's ok. the interior is nice but the competition has moved on and MB needs to keep up.

going the same way BMW did with their X5, so sad they are leaving the 2 row format, was really hoping they stay with the W166 chasis until 2021 at least, oh well..

If the interior of the 2020 GLS doesn't look and feel just like the interior of a 2019 S-Class, I'll be disappointed.
