X164 wheels/tyres on X166

Hi all,

Very amateur car person here - so relying on google for my knowledge (never good). Hope someone can help me.

Can I put wheels/tyres from a Pre-2013 ML350 X164 onto a 2015 GL350 X166?

Current wheels / tyres - 295/40ZR21 111W Rim 10Jx21 ET46 PCD: 5x112

Proposed wheels / tyres - 265/60R18 105V Rim: 8Jx18 ET53 PCD: 5x112

Any advice will be much appreciated!

Cheers

Check with tire shops to confirm the 18" will clear your rotors, I believe x166 gl350 comes with 19" as the smallest standard wheels.

BTW, if you downgrade to smaller wheels and tire package from your current 21", your WILL experience worse handling and cornering, more side to side sway since you will have taller tire side wall and also narrower tires, which gives you less contact with the road.

If you want to stick with 21", here is a great and reasonable priced tire option, per Discount tire, this is the best and newest option and tread lasts a long time. I am running this tire and very happy with it. You should be able to get a great deal on Black Friday if you can wait. If you buy them online, then you get free shipping and no tax. Locally DT can install for you.

thanks so much for the advice. I’ll not buy those 18’ rims then! Much appreciated.
