Cool Oil & filter change $71.46

Purchased two 5 qt jugs Mobil 1 0x40 full synthetic at O'Reilly Auto Parts, $61.14 including tax. They are currently offering $10 gift card for each jug, so net price $41.14. Ordered Koolman oil filter (looks identical to OEM filter) with rubber gasket off eBay for $8.32 shipped. Then $22 at Pep Boys to do the oil & filter change. So total OTD price for the oil & filter change was $71.46. Dealer wants over $170 for same service.

Plus I have 1 qt left over for a future top off.

By far the best deal I've ever gotten on a Benz synthetic oil change where I don't have to get my hands dirty.

that's a good price!

I can beat it though but it does involve 30 minutes of my own time.

2x 5W40 Leichtlauf High Tech Engine Oil (5 Liter) - Liqui Moly LM2332 $33 bought on sale

1x oe mahle Mercedes Engine Oil Filter Kit - Mahle 0001802609ML $8.50 bought on sale

1 mityvac 7400 I already had.....

-37.50 from fcp euro for a previous Liqui molly I had ordered returned under their lifetime replacement guarantee

-9.50 for the oe Mercedes Engine Oil Filter Kit - Mahle 0001802609ML I had ordered from fcp euro before returned under their lifetime replacment guarantee

$10 return shipping

All in $43!

You could do the same thing and still come out ahead by using pep boys for hbe dirty stuff.

Yes....dealership overcharges through the roof. Even just for the oil change they ask $120

P.s. I'm just a customer, not affiliated with fcp euro; but everything you buy from them can be returned and. Credited to your new order under their lifetime replacement guarantee. Its pretty awesome.

Does that Mityvac get all of the oil out like a typical removal of the drain plug? My concern would be that some of that dirty oil and possibly metal shavings would be left in the bottom of the oil pan, thus contaminating the new oil.

So the handy thing about the mityvac is the ability to see how much I'm taking out.

I consistently get out more than 9 litres which is spec....always a little more even... But then when I put in oil I'm always puttjng in around 10 litres of oil as well; which tells me the mityvac and my patience is more than doing a good enough job.

Every time i come close close to the mityvac being dry, I wait a moment and it sucks some more oil through, I believe the extraction point is the lowest point and thus oil flows to where I put the extraction pipe. Also I think my patience and determination to really let all the oil drip to the bottom is what makes the difference too. I doubt the tech spends as much time on it. If you think about how quickly techs do an oil change there is no way all the oil was removed.

There is also a wis document I read somewhere which approves extraction as an acceptable form of oil removal, so I'm pretty happy with this form of oil change.
It's so easy, I don't get dirty at all and I can do everything standing up.

You have to deduct the cost of two Costco granola bars from the dealer’s price. :-)

🙄

I do enough of that already 🤣

No but seriously, with having done the endlinks, shocks and checking the transmission pan. I welcome how easy it is.
