MB Brake fluid level sensor BS

I got the message on my dash saying to check brake fluid level on my gl63. I also got the red brake light illuminated. I figured it was my brake fluid but also saw that as strange for it to be low. I went to check the level and it was filled to the max level. I immediately figured it was the sensor so I did a search and found the other post regarding the brake fluid level reservoir being replaced. I search the internet and I couldn't find anywhere where just the sensor was sold. I had to buy the entire reservoir. This is the BS part. Inside the reservoir is just an encapsulated float and the sensor is a magnetic pick up outside of the reservoir so it doesn't intrude into the fluid at all. To remove and replace the sensor only takes about 5 minutes. Im sure the sensor would have only been about $15.00 if sold separately. I didn't feel the need to replace the entire reservoir so I just replaced the sensor. Pictures below on how to remove the sensor. Pretty simple operation.

remove dust cover

remove one torx screw for drain and remove plastic drain.

pinch these two tabs together and push inward.

The sensor is on the bottom. 1st, unplug the wire connector. To remove teh sensor, pinch the two tabs together and push out. It will be stopped by a detent. Use a small leverage tool to put behind the the tab and push it towards the front to release it from the detent. remove and replace.

That is classic Mercedes BS, 100%. check www.nemigaparts.com and you'll see diagrams and part numbers that allow you to search for specific compinents that MB won't sell you unless you buy the whole f* front end, but others (like chryser) and OE manufacturers will.
