rear trunk lid opens after car is locked.

Hello, a few days ago I had to jump start my 2013 GL450 and some gremlins came out. My mechanic reset error codes and I was able to solve some issues such as the rear camera not working when in reverse. However lately my rear trunk opens after I lock the car.

Any quick fix for this?

Thanks in advance

A gaggle of MB's
Please understand when you "jump" your GL450 - please make sure the Keyless Go button is pulled out - and NEVER have the key in the ignition on hook up... that's bad juju.

You use the key to restart the car after hookup - then reinsert keyless go button after everything is charged up.

Your real tail gate coming open - are you putting your key in a tight pocket ? The tailgate when GL is locked - really this is the 1st time I've heard of tailgate opening without a signal

you might be right. Might have been in tight pocket. Thanks!

2015 GL 550
Shortly after we took delivery of our GL550 in June 2015 I was fumbling to open the rear vent windows while underway and got the rear hatch control instead ... they are similar buttons low on the driver's door. Surprisingly ... the rear hatch opened even though we were at speed! I can only image what the vehicles following us thought.

Moral of the story ... M-B thinks of everything ... almost! Can't imagine a scenario when I would want the rear hatch to open while underway, but just in case ... it will.

I had several instances in which the trunk of my E-Class sedan opened spontaneously. Dealer couldn't believe it. . . until I brought in a video from our office building's security system. They checked whatever bulletin board the service tech's have to share info and found that several cars having that issue responded to having their rear SAM (Signal Acquisition Module) replaced. Dealer changed module and problem has not returned (over 2 years later).

Happened to me on my GLS450 when I first bought it. Wondering what happened since I was parked at work. Thought about how easy it is to press the buttons and then thought how sometimes on my Tacoma when the keys are in my pocket, the lock/unlock buttons get inadvertently pressed as well. Bought a fob cover and hasn't happened since.

Yeah, but. . . you have to hold that trunk button "in" for a second or two to get it to open. I thought my problem was button-press too. My "trial" solution was to always keep the fob in my pants pocket with the buttons toward my thigh. Nothing there small/sharp enough to press a button; nothing else in that pocket. My trunk continued to open until the SAM was replaced, and never since.

Not to say that your problem can't be inadvertent button-press, but as complex as these systems are, there are quite a few other causes. Intermittent electronic issues that you cannot force to happen are the worst ones to find.
