Thanks for you reply, I do have wis but it’s not always clear about instructions. I did take the Engine out and disassemble it completely and did mark on chains and gears but still not sure if I'm doing the timing correctly. WIS says to rotate crank to 53 degrees but mines has only 40 degrees so I had to count but still whenever I turn the crank to 40 or 53 the cylinder 1 or 5 will not reach its top dead Center ? I just don’t understand. Everything is easy except setting the timing ? Any advice will help !

Your motor is dead. Based on what i see. It is going to smoke and through misfire check engine. It has to be sleeved with new pistons.

Knock sensors and wiring located on the top of the engine in between under intake and intercooler.
It is up to you, you can either drop engine or take plastic firewall off and take your intake out.

Hi! I´am doing a m278 rebuild. I have a question what would happen if i use original pistons (If i don´t do the performance coating) with Mahle 41930CP piston rings in cast iron sleeves?

In this video they put original piston into cast iron sleeves :

Aluminum piston in an aluminum bore requires a coating on the piston or bore since you have to run dissimilar metals. Aluminum piston in an iron bore does not require a coating.
