Cup Holder Fix

Has anyone else had the black plastic "flipper" on their cup holder break? Mine did, and it looks like the only fix is to replace the cup holder. Given I only need the flipper piece, I have the springs that hold it up. i wonder if there is a third party fix? Of, if I could get someone to 3D print it?

Seems like it could be a good market. Does anyone have any thoughts, or other solutions?

Thanks,

This doesn't seem to come up much, so maybe not too large of a market?

I had a flipper come off but not broken. I took off the center console and reinstalled it in place.

Thanks, I think I will do that. Did you find good instructions on removing it? I think i will fix it w JB Weld and reinstall it. how log did it take? It looks like getting the flipper around the pin it rotates on will be tricky to not break more things.

Not really. It's pretty self explanatory you need to hold the spring down while installing the flipper. The only thing that might break is the axle of the flipper since you need to force it in.

Mine was missing a little rubber stopper that goes under the flapper, hence the flapper was sticking up in the air. After looking around I able to super glue a replacement piece of rubber I cut off of something I was throwing away. Works great, cant tell its not factory. If thats the same problem your having....or did your actual flapper come off?

Still need a flap

Hi - I had the same problem. The flap broke. Is there any way to replace it? Dealer wants over $1,000 to change the console. Unreal. This is the heated and cooled cupholder in the GL450.

I took some JB Weld and put a toothpick in the hole and built up the bottom of the flapper. Drilled out the toothpick, sanded, painted, better than new.

I have not installed it, trying to figure out the best way to get the pin through it with out breaking something. i am thinking I may heat up the post part a bit so it has some flex. Open to any suggestions.

I didn't find any link for the W166/X166 but they are quite straight forward and much easier than the W204 since there's no gear selector. There are just a few (I remember is 4-6) Torx bolts that you need to remove and then the center console can be lifted out. 2 bolts are at the very front inside the small storage well if you remove the rubber mat inside it you can see the two bolts. The other 2-4 are under the center console box if you remove the mat at the bottom of it you can see the bolts. Just be careful about the wires when you lift it out. I can attach the document from WIS if you can't figure it out.

Thanks for your advice, honestly I will be so thankful if I can get a document as still not sure how to do it step by step, apart from seeing the center console is big.. Any side frames to be removed?
What about the wooden drawer which covers the ashtray and cup holder.. Will it slip?

Can I have any images and procedure to follow
Any update?
