Oil leaking through Cam Shaft Position Sensor?

Oil leaking through Cam Shaft Position Sensor?
Oil leaking through Cam Shaft Position Sensor?I was told (from our local repair shop-not MB Dealer) that oil was leaking through my cam shaft position sensor and into the wiring harness. Was told we had to replace 4 sensors, and possibly the wiring harness if we didn't fix immediately. They said that oil leaking into the wire harness might cause a short and if that happens we would have to replace the entire harness. QUESTION: Can the oil really get into the wiring harness through the sensor? IS IT POSSIBLE?

Yes, oil leaking from camshaft position sensor into the harness is possible and is a known issue. I doubt it would cause a short - more likely that it will interfere with good contact.

Yes, see this thread. Replacing the wiring harness is a big $$$ deal, so do what you can to avoid it.

Changing the cam sensors is a easy DIY, they arent very expensive, and use some CRC electric cleaner to clean the 4 cam sensor plugs, and ECU/ECU plug
