How much did you spend, all in, on fixing the suspension?

I am considering buying one of these but the airmatic stuff scares me

Airmatic is very reliable as compared to ABC. It's a DIY type suspension and the parts are readily available and, for the most part, affordable.

Airmatic is a repair you will have to make if it hasn’t been replaced. I didn’t have time to DIY.

This is a great discussion! Thank you! I have a 2014 GL 450 with 96k miles on it and I am debating keeping or trading as well. I have an extended Mercedes warranty with unlimited miles until mid 2021. At 78k miles I had an engine rebuild due to pitting on the camshaft. New head, pistons, camshaft, etc. So the engine is almost new. My biggest worry is what happens after the warranty expires. I am also wondering about once the warranty is up if I punt the dealer for service. They have been doing everything since I bought it in 2018.

At 7 years and >100k miles, a lot of people consider it a good time to trade in for a newer one if money is not a strain to you and you want peace of mind plus newer technology. Usually at this time most suspension parts have some wear and tear that make the vehicle not handling the same as new, although most people can't quite feel it. If you want to make the most out of this vehicle, you can definitely keep driving it just be prepared for some issues coming up. The biggest issue it could have is the Air suspension. If it develops a leak, you need to replace it. The cost is not small (4 digits) but it's a one-time cost that can last you another 50-100k miles at least. If the Air suspension have been replaced shortly before your current warranty expires then that's a big plus.

The suspension links connect the sway bar ends to the lower control arms.

Above message was in response to adisco93's question above... just noticed it was from 6 months ago. Hope it is all sorted.
