Well....I heard the dreaded clunking upon quick acceleration and knew what it was immediately. Looked online for a new transfer case chain AND then when the issues started. 2013 MB GL450 with Off-Road Pckg. Nothing online for that year, make, and model. Found out from the MB Parts dept, that 2012 GL450 chain will work. AWESOME! But wait...not so quick. I went under the vehicle, drained the case and nothing came out. Hmmm? No signs of leaking, all bolts are dry and clean. opened her up and VOILA! Cooked! Dry and aluminum case fractures everywhere! See pics below. Where am I in this thing now? Well, as most of you probably know from all of the other posts, nowhere! Every parts dealer says that everything they got is "non-compatible" with the 2013 Off Road GL450. SO MY QUESTION ON HERE IS - Which years and model Mercedes vehicles can I look to for a compatible replacement without having to spend $2000!

Sorry to hear. Suggest blocking some time on the calendar and calling around to dealer parts departments and German Indy shops. After a dozen or so calls you might pick up the trail to what you are looking for. Also use eBay, Craigslist and fb marketplace.

What model years have suspect transfer cases?

Try Car-Part.com. It's an online way of searching all the salvage yards. I am sure you can find something on there. I just looked and there are a handful in inventories.
