Maintenance Opinion - 2015 GL550

I'm a little embarrassed to post this but searching has me more confused. Recently bought with 55k on it. The dealer changed oil & air filters and confirmed plugs changed at 50k. Coming up on the 60k service.
So here are my questions:
1. Do you guys take service cues from the manual or the vehicle service notices?
2. What oil type do most use? I've come from Audi's recently and have been using 0W40 which I've seen mentioned a few times.
3. How do you determine the oil filter? I've seen multiple referenced here and a few of the dealer part sites show two OEM filters that don't look the same.
4. Is there a difference between the red & blue transmission fluid? I've seen both referenced and even had different shops state they use each when calling for pricing.
5. Has anyone done their own brake fluid flush? Shops around here only charging $100 but I need to replace a hub assembly so thought I may just do it myself.

1. I don’t follow the factory reccomendation, I use common sense of a car enthusiast. 5k on oil and filter, Belt every 50k miles, air filter every 20k, ....
2. O-40 has been fine for me
3. I use Wix from rockauto
4. I don’t mess with the AT transmission. Local Indy shop service the transmission every 50k (around $400 iirc)
5. I did my brake fluid, no special tool needed. Just crack the bleed valve and bleed until you see clear fluid and move to the next corner.

i do recommend gout to drain and fill at least the rear end. The fluid will be black. I usually do the transfer and front diff too but those don’t get as black. I just filled all three with redline 75-90. I do not this every other year so about 30k. Our gl550 is right at 125k,

1. I use the maintenance booklet. Search this site, it is extensively discussed and the .pdf is posted multiple times.
2. Use the Bevo site. https://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/beam....f_vorschriften
3. Download and use EPC/WIS. ebay will find it for you.
4. Use the Bevo site. Yes there is a difference between red and blue, they are not interchangeable. I will have the dealer do my transmission fluid at 60k miles because they dispose the oil and can safely run the transmission through its gears while on a hoist.
5. Yes, very easy. You do need a pressure bleeder. I wrote this up with photos in the W166 section. Do not gravity bleed. Follow the WIS procedure. It's easy. Buy the fluid from the dealer.

Thanks so much! I'll pick up that manual. I guess I'll have the differentials and transfer case flushed with transmission. My driveway is at an incline so can't get 4 wheels off the ground.
