Second Row 40/40 Retrofit?

Hi all, current owner of a W211 wagon with 215k miles. Still looks and feels new. Love it. But, I have four small kids and the Suburban is getting tired.

Been looking at the GL350, and really like it. The *only* problem is, there's no pass-through to the third row.

Lots has been written on this, but wondering if anyone has attempted to retrofit the driver-side "60" second row seat with another "40" seat. In effect, you'd have 2+"40" seats and the "20" would be a pass-through to the third row.

I've seen this done on an XC90 but didn't know how feasible it would be on the GL.

Any ideas as always are welcome. Many thanks!

A gaggle of MB's
You would have to make contact with a Custom Shop - since a Mercedes dealer cannot modify the existing Safety Approved Seats.

So that you know the 2020 GLS and 2021 GLS both offer a 2x2x2 seating configuration - with "Captain's Chair" 2nd row.

What fabbrisd1 said.

Plus, 40+40 was never an option on the GL so the physical mounting points for the seats, latches, and seatbelts are not present to easily retrofit another 40.

It's pretty simple. If you absolutely need pass-through, don't get a GL.
