Blind Spot Assist issue

On many occasions over the past year I've gotten a warning : "Active Blind Spot Assist Inoperative" It usually goes away after a further 5-10 mins of driving. It happened to me again yesterday, and it came to mind that it occurred at the same location as the prior time (although this is not the only place it happens). Has anyone experienced issues with their warning system? Dealer had the car a month ago and could not find any cause.

Had the same thing happen. Turned out it was the control unit for the steering wheel. It is the plastic part right below the wheel that has all turn signal and cruise control stalks on it. Easy to replace, just need to be able to remove the steering wheel. I had the messages showing up for about 6 months. Started very intermittent but eventually got to be a daily issue so I purchased a used control unit from a salvage yard and have had no more issues. My car was about 5 years old when it started happening

Thanks Jim - my car is still under MB extended warranty, I'll discuss the control box with them.

I think the proper terminoligy for the part is the Multi Function Switch. Part #6 in the diagram below. The control unit is in that. I just remembered another indicator that it was going bad was that every now and them the turn signals wouldn't work. They would quit for a few min and then start working again just randomly.

Thanks Jim - indeed I lost my turn signals as well for a brief period.
