Cool Good...very inexpensive tires installed

I just got my new tires to replace the worn out (near the wear bars) Continental CrossContact UHP's that were worn out after just 11k miles of use. Instead of spending $1300 + labor to put on new Contis that would wear out again quickly on this heavy beast, I decided to go the cheaper route and purchased Atturo AZ850's 295/40/21. And these things are inexpensive.....I mean really inexpensive. I purchased them on Walmart.com for $108 each using my daughter's 10% discount. Without the discount they are only $120 each on that site....about $200 per tire less than the Conti's. They were delivered to Pep Boys in just 3 days. I did extensive research on these tires and the customer reviews are VERY good on SUV's and high performance cars. They are 111 XL load and Y rated for speed. They are much quieter than the Conti's and ride really nice. My price out the door for all 4 with tax and free shipping to Pep Boys for install was $478. Pep Boys installed them for $106 with hunter balancing.

There's no need to waste your money on the expensive branded tires that are going to wear out quickly any way. If I get another 11k miles out of these before I need to buy them again, I'll be happy. But I have a feeling these will last longer than the Conti's.

I also needed an oil change and picked up the requisite Mobil 1 0W40 full synthetic for $40 for 10 qts, and then $17 for the filter. Pep Boys changed those out for $22 labor. So a full oil change for under $80.

Thanks for the info. Do let folks know if you change your opinion down the line for future searches. This is the kind of thing I come here for.

Very cool, what's the treadwear, traction, and temperature rating? I looked on their website and it doesn't show a rating.

Please keep us posted if there's anything come up but I want to share my own experience. I want to save money but I personally have ZERO good experience with those cheap tires. I bought my 2015 GL350BT used with all 4 Firestone Destination LE2 tires in January. This tire is about $165 each from Firestone or Walmart. Two of them were brand new (date code in 2019) and the other two were about 8/32 tread left and date code in 2018. Just about a month or so after I bought it, one of the tires had a slow leak. Checked with soapy water and found it to be at the edge of the tread that's not fixable so I basically replaced all 4 with the Michelin Premier LTX at Costco for about $1100. Years ago I used to have a Honda Accord and I bought 2 new Primewell tires from Firestone and about 2 weeks later one developed a bulge on the side that was replaced under warranty. I have a friend's car that one cheap tire was blown on highway causing a dangerous situation. Some cheap tires are not very trustable.

After how they handled the Ford Explorer tires, I won't be using Firestone anytime in the near future. I had some where the tread was literally separated from the tires and they refused to cover since they were not under the recall batch. I replaced the tires and had the shop write down the serial numbers on the tires as their customer service rep told me to do because the batch I had were not yet recalled. When they were ofricially recalled, they said I literally had to cut the serial number off the tire and send to them before they would send me anything. The tires were long gone by then but not my disdain for how they handled the situation. I've never had tires separate like that and their customer service was crap.

I read over 100 customer reviews about these tires and pretty much everyone loved them. Some complained that they would wear out sooner than they expected, but I'm not expecting much more than the 12k miles that I got out of the Contis. So far they perform well at all speeds and have done well in cornering, braking, and wet & dry handling has been significantly better than the Conti's. So for 1/3 the cost of the big name brands, it is worth it to me. If I remember to come back to this 6 months or a year from now for an update, I'll be sure to do that.

@DaveW68 it would be great to hear how the tread, fuel economy, ride comfort and noise are holding up with these tires.

They are comfortable and quiet and handle great on wet and dry roads. No discernible different in gas mileage from the Conti's. I've only put around 3k miles on them and haven't noticed them wearing out prematurely. Honestly, if I get 10-15k miles out of them I'd be thrilled as the Conti's were almost to the wear bars with just 11k miles on them and cost 3x as much.

I took off the 19's on my R320, bought Set of Nokian Entyre and set of 17 wheels from Car-part.com for about 1/2 the cost of the Conti run-flats... mounted, balanced, new tpms sensors, out the door.
If I were to put rubber on the 19s I'm considering Nokian Z-Line 255/50 R19 (107 W rating) for summer use.
Price has come up some since I dawdled over the summer though - now at $141 per position.

The Entyres wear slower I think they are 55k mile tires.

One thing i noticed after i fixed leaking rear bags 70-75mph vibration is almost gone there is still some left but it looks like connected to leaking bags somehow.
I thought tires need to be balanced.
