Hello. We have a 2015 Mercedes GL350 were the rear brake light socket has shorted out. I am trying to find a replacement socket to splice in so I don't have to replace the whole assembly. See pic. It's the gray socket. Any suggestions as to where I can buy this? Or maybe cross it to a different mfg or model? Thank you! Jeff

Hi,
I was wondering whether you found a replacement socket. I'm actually running into similar issues.
Thanks for letting me know.
Hi all: any solution to brake light shorting? My 2015 GL450 has the same issue. Driver's side Brake light intermittently shorts. Two dealers replaced bulb then shorts again after several days. Only solution they have is replace entire Rear len housing. Wondering if there is an aftermarket replacement socket available? Seems to be an issue??

Yes, I had the same issue. Best would be to find the European style socket. However, these are not easy to find. I ended up ordering and soldering in this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M040VQB/.
However, it does need some modifications on the socket and the housing to make it work. Otherwise the little tabs would not fit. Good that it includes two scokets- one for practicing.
Not optimal, but still better than shelling out $300 for a new housing.
