Access to pump for multi contour seats

Looking for advice. The multi contour seat functions (bolsters/massage/etc) stopped working after a long road trip and the car has the following error code: "The pneumatic pump for the multicontour seat has a malfunction". After some time on the forum, it seems like a common problem for these pumps to wear out and I located it in the trunk area. I was planning to verify the pump details before ordering a replacement, but am unable to get the actual pump out and was hoping someone here has done this and could offer advice. I have included a photo of the 'challenge' below. Basically, I can unlock the lid of the box that houses the pump, but cannot remove it to access the pump. Does anyone know if the black box housing the pump can be unsecured from the car or is it necessary to remove more trim to lift the lid straight up? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Soren

Thanks for the note/suggestion. I am not familiar with this software, but did a quick search. Are you suggesting something like this:
https://autosoft.group/products/epc-wis-online

I'd happily pay $10 for a month if it saves a $$ trip to the shop.

Cheers,
Soren

Just a quick update. Replacing the pump solved the problem and was a 1 hour job, once I got started. I have included a copy of the MB instructions, in case anyone else runs into this issue.

Have you end up signing up for https://autosoft.group/products/epc-wis-online or what is the source of that PDF? Thanks.

Yes. A new (used) pump took care of it and no further problems to this day.

@sorenm Thanks for sharing your experience here to help the rest of us! I suspect I'm having the same issue that caused you to replace your pump (for instance, when the message function is turned on to say setting "4" it immediately goes back to "0"). Do you recall the part number for the pump that you replaced?

@sorenm curious, how did you get this code from the car? This doesn't sound like a standard OBD-II code, but I could be wrong... try to diagnose a similar problem in my '13 GL550. Thanks!

Guys,
Where except the pump not working, what/where else reason for not working lumbar/massage could be?
I don't have any error messages, but when I try to adjust the lumbar or start massage, they are just getting back to 0.
I bought the car from Dubai and already had some issues with "burned" rubber housings, but those should be inside.
Any Ideas?

How did you remove that fastening bracket #3?? I tried this last night but the forward end of the bracket is under the compartment floor.

Honestly, I don't remember, but I've teared apart entire f@uk$ing trunk, found some fancy brand (unfortunately not golden) neckless and a fork??! from the 1st owner
However I've used another diag tool (Launch) and finally got some DTC - B1E7900 (The air pressure sensor has a malfunction), I've checked everything in the the trunk: compressor is working, pipes are ok (tested them with soap water), no any leaks.
So looks like problem is this sensor, which I still don't have Idea where is located, or more possible, based on what I've read in forums, leak in the tubes in the seats. I've talked with several friends with multi-contour seats and looks like my old 2009 W221 is the only one with working . Member in one of the US forums wrote that, he changed all tubes in the seat, before get it working.
So when I have enough time I'll disassemble the seats.
