IS it the blind spot sensor?
New to this site and hoping you all can help. I have a 2013 GL550, 33K on it. Have been getting the blind spot inoperative message for a few weeks. searched the forums and seems to point to the sensors but also the steering module. Today I removed the sensors and they look perfectly fine (see attached). Before I drop a few hundred each on these things, any ideas on how to confirm it's the sensor vs the steering module. Everything else works fine that people have listed with their similar issue (I.E. wipers work; blinkers work).
Thanks in advance!
I swapped a few with used ones and they seem to have worked OK. Try to find a wrecking yard (or eBay) with a southern dry location (California, Florida, etc). Don't get one from NY or MI as they are all wet and salty!
I had a problem recently and found that the version needs to be the same on both front sensor (or both rear if you're working on those). I believe there is a circle with "Q12" or something like that in it. You need two sensors with the same Qxx number in it or the system won't work.
Make absolutely sure you get a replacement unit with the same part # as what is printed on your existing one. EPC shows a few versions but I have had the best luck with using the exact part # on the module and have had no problems.
These sensors fail all the time and I would initally guess you just need a sensor. But have it scanned!!!

I did a replacement on my FIL 2012 ML with great success. I have access to Xentry, so that made finding the issue straight forward. Here's a link to the post: https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w...r-sensors.html
For the record, I bought the car from a MB dealer with this issue and dealer had a ludicrous estimate of 2k to replace both blind spot sensors in the back. If there's a code of 'interference from external transmitter' just ignore it, mine always have those. Even with Xentry the dealer had a bad diagnosis, but they also had an $ agenda...
