Advice in repairs

I have 2014 gl450, ran out of extended warranty last year, took it for flex b service and state inspection and faulty right rear air suspension bag that is loosing air overnight and I got a call today that some type of engine cover that sits on top of camshaft is leaking oil a little and it won't pass inspection because engine mounts are falling apart and I was given 6k$ bill for all the repairs and apparently engine mounts are out of stock all over in USA, so what should I do, my plan was to get this service done and then trade it for my pre-ordered ioniq 5, any advice appreciated much.

This place is a joke.
Why would you spend any money on it when you are going to trade it?

I would not spend but my new preorder will be another 6 months to get here and without state inspection I cant drive it where I live as cops around here are extremely nosy.

I guess my question is the cost, he was quoting 2200$ for the parts and labor to replace engine mounts and 1900$ to fix the oil leak from under the piece that is above camshaft and leaking oil and if not fixed can result in oil dripping into alternator below, I still have time to cancel it but tomorrow, so is the quote reasonable or outrageous and I might end up keeping vehicle if I did not like ioniq 5, any advice is appreciated.

Which state you are in? That is some B's for failing inspection because of engine mounts or oil leak.

Yes and that is what I was confused about, I guess they only use OEM parts. I live in VA and oil leak above camshaft is not failing state inspection but the wearing out of engine mounts will result in failed inspection if not replaced.

Don't need to use OEM part, don't need to use dealership service. Take it to another mechanic shop in the area servicing Mercedes and ask them for check up and quote. Don't mention any previous details. You never know who is honest and who is what....

Unfortunately there is no one else to services Mercedes as I live in a small town and dealership is the only one and I have been taking my SUV to them for the past 5 year services and they never behaved in a way for me to think that they were talking all B's for this time and that is what part of my confusion was as to believe it or not, I just drive this tank to NY from VA and back and did not notice any symptoms related to mount failure and have never seen a drop of oil garage floor since I owned this car, so I am really confused on how to proceed next, I was busy in between seeing patients when he called me and I was concerned about not passing state inspection and verbally agreed to go ahead with everything he said and I will have to call him back to cancel all those and really don't know if I can after verbally agreeing.

Repairs

The engine mounts are not an easy fix, lifting the engine, etc. I paid 500 for oem parts. I think of you are going to keep it, it is worth doing.

The leaking seal, I can't opine. But you can be certain the dealer is going to be your highest bid.

Its up to you what your time is worth. If I were facing a $4k bill I would probably think you could save $1500 calling around. There is a website, benzshop.com that lists all the certified MB mechanics. I had good luck on that.

I called the $tealership to cancel those 2 items that he quoted $4100, I was told they will place a rejection sticker for state inspection since the old one was already scraped, I will look around and I definitely don't plan on keeping this SUV for longer than 6 months. Btw I wonder why no lights on dash or any place came up with a faulty mount and we just drove it to NY and back last week and no symptoms of failed mount were felt.

So got the tank back today and attaching a picture of where he said the leak was coming from under camshaft cover, it's not a even to be concerning if I am looking at the right place?
