Stupid Question About 3rd Row Seats

Hi All,

I've done a bunch of googling but can't find a definitive answer anywhere. For the 3rd row seats, if the headrest is in the up position, will it automatically retract when you press the button to fold the seats down?

It doesn't on my car but I'm wondering if something is busted. All the videos I've seen online only ever show the seats with the headrest already retracted which leads me to believe that this is a manual step but I thought I'd check with the folks here.

Thanks,
Martin

It's a manual step to retract the headrest.

The seats will still fold with them up but you wouldn't want them to be up as it will catch the 2nd row seats and possibly break the folding mechanism.

There should be a button on the base of the headrest that you push, then it retracts.Same as the second row release button.

That wasn't a dumb question at all; I had it too. Maybe the same kind folks can let me know whether the 2nd and 3rd row headrests can stop anywhere other than completely down or completely up? My front are electric so lots of options but the rears only seem to have 2 options: all the way up or down. Thanks!

In my two GL450, the second and third row headrests are all the way up or down. I've not found a way to adjust them anywhere in the middle.

Thanks! Guess I’m going to do the pin removal technique this weekend so my daughter’s head isn’t titled forward by this dumb design. Luckily, looks like a 15 minute job per headrest.

I did notice the middle seat in the 2nd row has multiple height settings.

AND both sides of my second row have automatic power fold forward. So, there is no reason Mercedes could not have done this for the 2 primary rear seats. Ugh.

cheers.
