Compressor has two parts - clutch and control valve. Now if your clutch engages - you turn your ac on and central part of compressor start spinning with belt pulley and you still don't have cold - you control valve is dead. if central part is not spinning - your clutch is dead. Anyway it is standard procedure for all german cars with control valve (of course if you can reach it underneath) - slowly drain on low pressure side, disconnect connector, remove stop ring, and pull control valve out. If you have some debris on filter net - clean as much as u you can inside valve hole. Then apply some AC oil on new valve seals, slip it in, put stop ring back, vacuum the system and fill gas.

You need to replace the valve. Net is just an indication of compressor wear. If you have shavings mean you compressor going south. If not - all good.

I know this is an older thread, but I'm trying to find information on the refrigerant control valve. My compressor is engaging appropriately and the refrigerant levels are good, but all of a sudden my 16 GL450 is blowing hot air. I found this thread and reference to a refrigerant control valve but can't find it on any parts diagrams or parts lists for a '16 GL450. Is this part specific to the compressor where i just need the model name of the compressor to find the correct valve?

I found it difficult to identify the correct valve and equally difficult to find a compressor. Ended up taking it to the dealer as I didn’t know For sure that the valve was the problem. Yeah, that was an expensive trip but they warranty it for two years. They ended up replacing the compressor and dryer.

You need to take a look at the stickers at compressor. Usually it is Denso, also it will tell you compressor model. MB do not manufacture ac compressors. Once you know your compressor type just use google for the valve fits in it.

7SAS17c is the model number and I can't find the valve anywhere for that model. Hopefully I can find one or else I'll have to bite the bullet and get a new compressor.

Still waiting on the valve to come back in stock. Does anyone have the service sheet or any tips for removing the ac compressor? I have the 3.0tt and I can only find videos on the 4.7l which is incredibly different and easier to access the ac compressor.

Anyone replace the control valve or remove the compressor on an x166 with the m276? Can the valve be replaced without removing the compressor?

Yeah I still need to do mine. I didn’t see much about replacing the valve only but read unbolting it some to get better access. I don’t have the time so plan to have buddy do it next week for me.
