How to replace cigarette lighter socket with heated/cooled cup holders
I have a 2015 GL450 (X166 chassis) with heated and cooled cup holders. The front cigarette lighter socket is broken (the "button" at the deep middle bottom for the positive terminal has broken off so the USB charger doesn't reach power). I have checked my fuses and the cup holders still get hot and cold power so I know it's not a simple fuse issue.
How does one go about swapping out the cigarette socket? Do I need to disassemble the entire center console? Perhaps can I just pull out that top ashtray to get to what I need? Can I use a "socket puller" tool that I see advertised at the auto parts store to just engage the little holes inside on the sides of the lighter socket and just pull?
