NEED HELP-will this transfer case work for my GL550?

Guys, finally got some numbers.
$1500 for chain swap labor, seal and fluid. I pay for the chain
or $800 labor for transfer case swap. I can get a transfer case for $600, apparently low miles but who knows. So total around $1400
what would you guys do?

Chain swap. I would say better than 50-50 that if you put in a used transfer case you will need to chain swap within 10-20K miles. All transfer case chains seem to go bad at some point.
Also, opening the case and swapping the chain is at most 2 hours labor and a tube of RTV. Why is there a $700 upcharge for that?

Price comes with name. Either way you can do it yourself, seems like you might have more knowledge that most of the parts swappers

I did however find a shop that can swap the chain “as long as it doesn’t need any special tools” and turnaround time is 2-3 days and cost was around $200.
The issue is he won’t remove the transfer case and put it back, I would have to walk in with the transfer case.
so I would have to find a shop to pull it out and install it after the chain is replaced.
this is a headache

Hey guys I ended up getting a rebuilt one off eBay.
Other than the shell 1 qt of transmission fluid posted above, what else would I need? I want to provide everything to the mechanic to complete the swap.
