Ignition switch issues :(
This is my old 450 (2007) and has only 80k miles. Nothing but trouble since 4 year warranty expired . Latest is that ignition switch acting up. Sometimes it doesn’t truth all the way and sometimes if it does starter doesn’t turn on. If I am lucky , all goes as planned and it works.
what are my options? Looks like getting ignition switch replaced will run me close to $1400

Every style of MB ignition module features a different flavor of similar goodness.
A new switch needs to be coded to your car and your keys.... repairing your own bypasses these unnecessary steps if successful.

Hi
Opened my switch from 2007 gl450 and it is very different from what is in most videos. There are two separate circuit boards that are connected to each other via some pins. I didn’t find anything visually wrong and no solder needed repair. Cleaned everything with electronic spray and assembled back. Seem to be working but time will tell. Issue was intermittent so keeping fingers crossed
