My driver's side folding mirror motor died a slow death. The simple solution was the keep both mirrors extended as opposed to folding when locked. So I was speaking with a local police officer, and he tells me car thieves target high end SUVs, specifically looking for vehicles with the mirrors out, becuse that could mean the key fob is in the vehicle. I researched youtube and found a video of a guy changing the folding motor for cheap money on an SL, I bought the motor below off fleabay for $14 shipped to my door. It was advertised as compatible withthe X166. I took the entire mirror assembly aprt and off the truck, but I could not get access to the motor. Different design than the SL mirror video I watched. Did not want to break the assembly at the pivot point, so I gave up. Has anybody had success replacing this type of motor below?
