We own a 2014 Mercedes GL 450 and a 2012 Mercedes E350
2014 Mercedes GL 450 start up
Hey guys! Long time reader, first time post. My 2014 GL450 sounds rough on start up. No grinding, ticking, or rattles, it just sounds rough? Is this just a GL thing? (My E350 sounds like a normal car)

Hard to tell anything from the video but your 450 is a bi-turbo V8 and the 350 is a 6 so they will sound different. Are you using excessive amounts of oil in the 450?

Thanks for the response! I don’t think I am, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t hearing any phantom noises that plague other GLs!
I get the oil change done per the Manual. I never miss and never go over. Meticulous maintenance!

OILING MATTERS....
Use a better oil for less miles.
The stock setup is not entirely biased for longevity.
This is somewhat vague so you do topic research and in case your engine pistons are beginning to produce shavings you do not associate that to a specific oil aside from thin stock.
All oils are good but some better than others, including cheaper ones.

CHEMISTRY & VISCOSITY MATTER...
Old oil is acidic with poor viscosity that limits pistons cooling.
This causes dirty rings to get jammed by burnt oil carbon.
Quarts of oil get vaporized into intake by high blow-by pressure to coat intake valves.
Oil+filter change once a year or at 5kMi or as soon as oil is burnt into black sludge.
