Split decision on Designo wheel/heat
Split decision - I will know for sure in about 10 days/2-weeks.
The feature/order matrix allows Designo and alos allows to add heat - so I do have a vehicle supposedly configured/production with both - but a couple of weeks will tell once we have hands on it.
Another note of the wodd/leather wheel and the Designo wheel - when parked in normal sunshine, mild sunshine acutally, the wheel will "heat" at the 12 o'clock position just from the sunshine - weird deal actually. I think the Canook noticed this 1st. Weird but true - then drive 3-5 minutes and the "hotspot" on the wheel dissipates.

Check with a MB AMG Performance Center - trying to order a GL63 from a "regular" dealer will be like winning the lottery. AMG Performance Centers are allowed to order/1st-available production slot like regular production MB's, "regular" dealers will not get GL63's by allocation, they only can schmooze politcally, or like I say - win the GL63 lottery.

I have been to 2 (two) non-amg dealers and I could order the GL63..... it was in their system back in October

Well...
CookS's ... well, those dealer could "take your order" in October, but since they couldn't place the order with the factory, they were just trying to get you committed to them.
There has been no push back, really, just a lot of half-hearted statements from half-hearted dealers trying to tie down a commitment.
end-March production, at best, and will be severely allocated, and production limited. Almost to the point that a Spet 2013 might be better value.. if runs too late.

Mine didn't require any deposit although I have bought many cars from them. Most dealers will not keep a deposit unless you order a car with excessive options/customization.

I agree but non-refundable deposits on something like GL63 is little excessive when they have not been allocated yet. The dealer wants commitment on something they can't guarantee the build. It is an AMG performance center so its a good chance they will get one but still the when is unknown.

Does anyone know how much is the GL63? The netstar order system has 99,999 as base price. One of the articles mentioned $116,925. I don't know if $116,925 is the base price or is it with all options.

Yes - what was told you by the AMG Performance center is precisely accurate at this moment.
At this point, I reasonably expect AMG PC 1st production to move a bit out to 1st/2nd decade March
On AMG - not all MB dealers are created equal - and the order system for AMG with AMG PC's is up-the-food-chain quite a bit.
If you want a 2013 GL63 this Spring - AMG PC is who I would deal with.

GL63... ordered (requested) Sept 29th and paid $5,000 deposit and was told January build with Feb. delivery! Dealer then received their allotment Nov 9th and I was advised build was delayed to March due to Distronic supply issue. Now April 20th delivery which for tax reasons blows! Six months is a hell of a long time to wait for an SUV, even if it does 280km/hr

Ordered mine from an AMG Performance Centre in Canada with full load, all but the $6,500 stereo upgrade 
cost is expectd at $130,000.00 give or take. Deposit is refundable if price or equipment aren't as agreed.

I guess in that case the price of $116,925 is the base price. It will be similar to yours when you add options.

If production is pushed out such that I can't get an allocation until May or June, I'm thinking that fabbrisd1's comment about waiting until Sept for a 2014 may make more sense. While I am going to loose big money either way on depreciation, it would somehow feel better to take that hit in 11/12 months rather than in two or three.

I understand it's a bit ragged
The off-the-book "suspicion" I have is that it doesn't take much from the premium/premium intl side to throw the wrench in the works..orders from the premium market side (like Dubai) will gobble/gobble... which doesn't take much to put a dent in things at the start.. if you have a opportunity to sell exclusivity at $300K each what would your brand
If you want to get in-line at the front, and get a GL63 the way you want it...now is the time to get serious.
If you want to lower depreciation hit.. then order a 2014 in May for Sept delivery.. it's AMG, the GL63 is awesome, it takes what it takes to decide for real to jump in the water... the water is splendid..
