control arm bushings and sway bar links

I’m almost at 70,000 and was told control arm bushings are shot. Sound about right for this mileage?

most my cars control arm bushings go about between 60k-100k so sounds normal. my GL63 has been fine though at 65k.

my 2013 all front bushings shot at 70000 km
if you will use after market bushing you will have tough ride, very cheap and bad noise also longer life than oem.

Lemforder is great, I've always used them in Mercedes and BMW. Just stay away from the Ebay brands of unknown origin.

Big heavy high power high g force car = everything wears fast. Its the price to pay for bending the laws of physics.

I've had links done on 2 GL450s between 80--100k miles. Our current GLS 550 has 72k mi but no issues yet.

The parts are around $200 its the labor that adds up. Its a DIY job if you're handy at all.

Good luck,
DRP

I had it done, but they couldn't press the bushings out so wound up buying entire replacement control arms. Don't know why they were harder to press out. Bushings were definitely worn out at 67k. Noticed improvement of handling immediately.

Mine has 61k on it now and I feel like it needs to be tightended up in the front again, when I go over speed humps I can feel some movement in the suspension that shimmy's the steering wheel a little, and I feel that at 60mp no matter how much road force balaning Ive had done to my new Michelin PS4 SUV rubber, so Im wondering if its just worn bushes. Mercedes dealer doesnt want to change just bushes, claims that the increased labour time balances out the cost difference in the parts, the bushes are really cheap from MB for these cars, they must sell em loose for a reason right?

I agree the arms themselves never wear out, although the ball joints do (and could also give you that loose feeling) so those plus bushings and extra labor is usually not the route dealers take, twice the time and a close difference in cost to you. The other thing I've found is that since it's become practice to replace the whole units, many dealers won't carry the right press tools for changing bushings since they are expensive. Not that they would admit that, but that can definitely drive their approach to selling you the whole units.

Do you happen to know the part numbers for the ball joints please?
