Coolant Pouring Out (passenger side)
- AC stopped working and turned out that the compressor randomly went bad. It was replaced three weeks ago. AC has worked great since.
- Small coolant hose (picture attached) was also replaced due to a slow leak.
- Driving car 5 days ago and the “check coolant level” notice came on. I checked coolant level and it appeared just barely below the max line. No warnings since.
Cranked car today to make a short trip to store. Within minutes I realized the AC seemed to not be cooling right. Seemed the cold air was turning on and off (the fan stayed on).
First thought it was the eco setting thing where it will automatically lower the AC. So I disengaged the eco-saving setting. It kept doing that anfterwards and then I had a yellow “coolant low” warning appear.
Within 2 more miles (as I was about to arrive to my destination 4 total miles from home) I received red warning light, saying something like “Turn Engine Off -Engine Hot”. I parked and got out to find coolant pouring (multiple streams) out under the front passenger side of the vehicle. MB Roadside picked it up to tow over to the garage. Any ideas what this could be?
QUESTIONS
- I don’t understand what the connection between the AC and coolant would be. They don’t have anything to do with each other, right?
- I think this is probably the water pump but I’m just basing that off what I’ve found here.
Coolant pouring out underneath on passenger side.
