Oil change recommendations
Hello all , just thought I'd share , I've switched from liquimoly 5w40 to motul 5w40 and have noticed an extreme drop in engine noise ( top end ticking etc) idling rpm also seems to have dropped (550-600). Current car 17 gls 63amg m157 engine, I've had three of these already , and have been doing all maintenance in house, that is why I'm currently pleased with the switch and putting it out there for anyone interested, and yes I've made sure it's an approved oil on bevo .

complete specs I cannot answer, but down the rabbit hole of oil topics there's difference between fully synthetic and 100% synthetic, also it's in the proprietary ingredients in both brands , they are both mb 229.5 approved for the m157 engine , mainly i thought I'd share because after years of using strictly liquimoly I saw an immediate change, also I currently am maintaining a total of four mbs ( e550,cla 250, c300, and gls63) and changed all to motul with similar results.

Very interesting. I know that all the refiners have their own secret recipes for synthetics. Most seem to be petroleum based and use processes that de-construct and then re-construct hydrocarbon molecules. Pennzoil boasts that its natural gas based formulation is more synthetically pure since there is no de-construction phase. Who knows? Whatever works best is what to use.

liqui moly is cheap oil. It's a marketing gimmick. No idea why people are proud and brag about it. Every vehicle I've used liqui moly in goes from being normal, running great to making noises and consuming oil. Switch oil back to any different brand and those issues go away. Motul is a top tier racing oil in comparison great move.

Have used it in my 13 63 wagon for three years. Heads and tails above Mobil water and liquimoly. Like moving up in weight at next change due to some dirty rings which you can see on a thread I posted earlier today.
enjoy. It’s a great oil and if you e had any consumption, it will help.

I don't brand switch enough to have any experience with bad versus good oil. I'm using Castrol Edge Euro Car in 5W-40 because it's (1) MB 229.5 Approved, (2) API-SP rated, and (3) readily available at Walmart at $25/5 qts. I change it every 5K miles (12 months for me), and let the oil and engine debate the rest.
