Transmission Jerking

Taking the my GLA250 for service next week. The transmission likes to jerk sometimes shifting from D1 to D2. It happens after cold start, but doesn't happen if it's been warmed up. I wouldn't bother if it was minor, but when I press the gas, i hear the engine revving, but there is no power. Then it shifts to D2 and suddenly jerks forward and make a very audible bang. I've actually had this happen a couple times on the highway, going from 4th to 5th or 5th to 6th. I'd try to pass and press the gas, but nothing happens, then suddenly it shifts and jerks forward.

I'll report on what the dealer says. Made an appointment for next Thursday.

I've had something similar, but it feels more like when the turbo kicks in rather than when the gearbox shifts. Annoying, but... yeah. Curious to know what your dealer said.

Getting the car back tomorrow. They couldn't reproduce it. They had it over the weekend. Nothing fixed, but at least they washed it.

So far, the transmission shifting in the low gears (both up and down shifting) is my only complaint with the car (and the automatic off). I took it in after 2 days of ownership but the service guy couldn't reproduce the shifting glitch either. Mine is not severe, just slightly annoying. Not smooth.

MBUSA is aware of trans problem with jerking from 1 to2 and from 4 to 5 They have no idea why and it is only on some vehicles. Tell your dealer to follow the bulletin and reset the trans so it can learn again. They do not like to do it but it does help for a while

Thanks, dbldpr. I'll look into this (I need to find out what a bulletin is), and have them do it!

I believe the bulletin number is 27-19-p056610 if my memory serves me correctly. Good luck and do not let them say you have the most current update already. Tell them you want it reset to learn again and that you want a service record showing that it was done.

I have the car at the dealer for maintenance and told them about the transmission jerking. They said there is bulletin out for the exact problem I describe "Transmission jerking from 1 to 2 and sometimes in reverse", they will update me once they hear from Mercedes on how to fix it. I'll post it here.

Well, looks like the dealer was advised to replace the dual-clutch. They are doing it tomorrow, I'll know more once I get the repair report.

Got my car back after 2 weeks in the shop. They had to take apart the front end and pull the engine and transmission to replace the dual clutch.

Maybe this will help anyone else having a jerking transmission. Mine was pretty bad. It would also jerk in reverse, which made it dangerous pulling out of a parking spot.

I made an image of the work report:

It's been smooth so far, but I need to drive for a couple of weeks to be sure. I'll update here intermittently.

It's been a week so far with the new dual clutch and have had no jerking problems. It actually seems to accelerate a bit faster from 1st to 2nd, and a bit louder.

I bought a 2015 model and over the past 8 months I have been getting a knocking/metal clinking sound anytime the car shifts from 1-2 or 2-3 and only after she has been warmed up. It seems to be getting louder by the weeks. I have taken it to 2 different Mercedes dealers and each time they told me they couldn't replicate it, but I hear it every time I drive her. The sound is driving me crazy!
