Hi everyone, I have a coolant leak coming from the firewall side of the engine of a 2018 GLA250 engine. Euro care repair center says it is the thermostat housing and hoses connecting it. I could feel the leak running on the engine side of the hoses that feed into the firewall but could not tell or see if it was the housing back there or the actual hoses. The repair shop says the whole intake needs to come off to replace the thermostat housing and hoses. They quoted $1,700 to repair it. Does this sound reasonable?
Also, they then came back and said the oil cooler is leaking and want to charge another $700 for that. I can't seem to find any video on the oil cooler except one and it looks to be close to the top of the engine. Can anyone confirm where it is and if it sounds like it should be a $700 job?

Ask your repair shop if they put engine dye in your car to determine where the oil leak is coming from. If they didn't you can go to your local parts store, buy some engine dye and put it in your car yourself. The engine ie will show you where the oil leak is. Actually, the pricing sounds ok. Car repairs are expensive.
