His guys. What is the stock tire size for the 19s on the GLA 45? Also, anyone here running 20s and switch to 19s. I like thicker and wider tires one reason why I like to go 19s. Appreciate all comments.

 

235 / 45 ZR19 -from the manual, and the specs for the 20s from the manual are are: 235 /40/ ZR20

I just had a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4, 245/45/R19 tires installed. The most sublime improvement I could imagine was the result.

 

Its not a wrong way to go there that. I have 50's on my MS6, and it was a squeeze cuz I went a centimeter wide, On a lifted SUV, you can run what you want without losing sleep over rubz


Do this one thing, and you'll avoid any objective issues.

go to tirerack, and lookup the "revolutions per mile" value for the OEM tires.

and just stay close to that value.

so,.. 200= MM width of the tread area

the 50 value expresses the radial distance from the rim to the tread. its expressed as a ratio of the measured width.

the 20 is of course the rim diameter


So, in our case above, the tire forms a band of rubber 100MM thick.



the R/M value is simply an expression of circumfrence.

that taller sidewall will give you compliance and a nicer ride feel.


now, grip is coming from contact patch width, so more is better, yeah?
but, wider, at the same aspect ratio, is a lager diameter....... speedo is reading low, fitment in the well gets tougher, (and I am unsure to what degree the TC, DSC, etc systems may or may not get compromised)

so, from stock. you want comfort, fine, but that first number gets smaller


your choice to make now, but a solid reccomendation is printed on the doorsill

 

Discount Tire lists alternative sizes. I didn't look at the 19's

 

The GLA45S's come standard with 8-1/2" wide wheels fitted with 255/40 x 20 tyres. There is an option to go to 21" wheels.
Now, onto standard 8-1/2" rims you can get away with fitting a 275/35 x 20 tyre if you choose to do so. Though the specifications are for a 275 tyre the rims should be 9" wide.

I was just looking at my wheels on my '16 GLA 45 The Stock black Borbet 20 inch rims are 8Jx20 ET43.5 so not all came with an 8.5" this site does list a different option rim tho, with a smaller offset.

BTW, my stock tire was 235/40ZR20- there's not a lot of brands making tires for that size so I went with a 255/35ZR20
